Why has there been so many people talking about going green, but so few people actually doing something? The herd mentality might be to blame. While movie stars and sport celebrities might endorse green practices, does that translate into others following their lead? The answer according to those endorsing the the herd mentality would be no. The key is to follow the largest group of informed individuals, not a renegade leader. A person is more willing to adopt green practices if their friends are all doing it. Similar to a new restaurant, if your friends go there and rave about it you normally would be more inclined to try the restaurant. Thus, if we really want to get the word out about going green, we have to promote green activities to as many people as possible and develop a critical mass where going green is the popular thing to do. Lets all do our part and try to convince as many people as possible to follow.
